Mark Einstein – “The Genius of Rock’n’Roll”

Mark Einstein’s journey through radio is a story of passion, persistence, and a lifelong love for music. He got his start in college radio at Northwestern, where he first discovered the power of connecting with listeners through sound. From there, Mark worked his way up the ranks as both a DJ and programmer, beginning in the small “Twin Cities” of Marinette, Wisconsin–Menominee, Michigan. His talent and drive eventually took him to a much bigger stage—Minneapolis–St. Paul—where he hosted the 9 PM to midnight shift on KDWB, one of the region’s most influential stations.

That late-night slot gave Mark more than airtime—it gave him opportunity. During the day, he launched a small advertising agency and pursued an MBA at the University of Minnesota, blending creativity with business strategy in a way that would define his career.

After earning his degree, Mark moved into media research and consulting in the Detroit metro area, where he has remained ever since. While much of his early consulting work focused on television news, it only reinforced what he already knew—radio was his true passion.

In the mid-1980s, Mark returned to his roots by founding his own radio research and strategy firm. Over the years, he worked with stations across the United States and Canada, helping shape programming and connect audiences to the music they love.

Even in retirement, Mark hasn’t slowed down. He’s shared his knowledge by teaching marketing at a local business school, but the pull of rock’n’roll never faded. Today, he brings that same energy, experience, and love for radio to Rockin Hits Radio, where he’s thrilled to once again be behind the mic, doing what he’s always done best—bringing great music to life.
